Mai's Kitchen is a family owned business. The cook's son came out and told us their story. Eating a Vietnamese dinner family style is really special and I appreciate this restaurant for still offering that. This place is known for their braised clay pot fish and for their ribs. I love that they offer dishes that aren't in a lot of other Vietnamese restaurants. Like the pickled tiny tomatoes/eggplants?? with the mam or the purple soup. It really felt like home cooking--there was love invested in these dishes.
The menu is in Vietnamese, but honestly showing pictures on Yelp to the waiter/waitress works haha.
This place is special and you should definitely eat here because it will probably be gone in several years--not due to lack of patrons and creation of quality Vietnamese food, but to old age and the toll of owning a restaurant on families with different generational capabilities, interests, and desires. -

Mai's kitchen is a small Vietnamese restaurant with great customer service and a nice variety of different dishes. I particularly liked the bun bo nuong dac biet. They give you plenty of meats and the meats are all perfectly flavored. It's actually a huge bowl and could probably be shared among two people, if you get an additional appetizer or something. Like I mentioned earlier, service is good. They check up on you often but not to the point of annoyance. I'll definitely be back.
Warning, it's cash only! -

Here is another fantastic Vietnamese Restaurant in the Garden Grove area.
Location: Located just a little bit west of the heart of Little Saigon along Bolsa Ave and Magnolia Ave and Bushard Street along the northeast corner with plenty of free parking available.
Atmosphere/Ambiance: Cute little restaurant with limited seating
Everything for the seating to the table and the wall decor was very cozy and inviting.
Food: This place is known for their Rice-cakes and they immediately caught my attention when I saw them get served to the table next to us.
So, we ordered the Banh Beo Shrimp Rice-cakes as an appetizer and those did not disappoint!
I loved the texture and the way you put the spicy dipping sauce on which gives it a unique flavor and they are so light and tasty.
As my main course I chose the Shrimp and Egg-roll Vermicelli and without a doubt was as good as it can get.
Verdict: 5 Stars for reasonable priced and very tasty food, great ambiance and friendly service.
I'll be back!
Enjoy and Bon Appétit. -

Delicious Vietnamese homemade food. Their family dinner meal (com phan) reminded me of dinner I used to eat back in Vietnam. Love their pork rib (suon rim) and fish (ca kho to). Appetizer banh beo chen also was delicious. Highly recommend Vermicelli with girl pork ( Bun thit nuong) as the meat was tender, not chewy.
They have some selection of desert Che and drink. Dau xanh la dua drink was kind of sweet, but still good.
It is a small place. There might be a wait on the weekend. Friendly staff and fast services.
